Overview
This short film was created to bring attention to the enduring legacy and current restoration of the historic rock walls along Skyline Drive. Through poetic narration and careful storytelling, the film transforms a story of stone into one of resilience, stewardship, and renewal. It was shared nationally by the Department of the Interior and Shenandoah National Park.

If These Walls Could Talk was a short film I created at the request of the Department of the Interior Office of Communications to highlight deferred maintenance projects across the National Park Service. They asked me to take on the project after seeing my previous video work, trusting I could make even a topic as unassuming as a stone wall feel compelling.
The film tells the story of the rock walls along Skyline Drive—built nearly a century ago by the Civilian Conservation Corps, now weathered and crumbling, and being restored through funds generated by park entrance fees. I storyboarded the concept, wrote the script, hired and coached the voice talent, and edited both the video and audio.
My biggest challenge was finding a way to make a film about rock walls engaging. I approached the script like a poem—short, rhythmic, and reflective—to capture the walls’ quiet endurance and the care now being taken to preserve them. The final video was shared nationally by the Department of the Interior and Shenandoah National Park through their websites and social media channels.
